Spring Break is finally here! Does that mean that you get a pass on improving yourself? NO Way!!!
Take this week to get a leg up on your competitors. While they’re being lazy, you’re being productive. Try mixing it up with some cross training. If you’re at the beach this week, wake up and go for a beach run.
It’s a great way to work on those calf muscles and do some quality people watching. Play some tennis. If the water is safe, take an ocean swim. If not, go for a swim in the pool or better yet play beach volleyball. There are so many ways to stay active by trying new sports. The main goal is to have fun and stay in shape a non-traditional way!
This is also a great time to do some meditation. I’m not talking about surrounding yourself with candles and sitting “indian style” in a room for four days. Take 15 minutes or so and visualize your goals. You have the extra time this week. Go sit by the water, listen to the crashing waves, and see yourself reaching your goals. What is it going to take to get you there? Are you currently doing those things? If not, why? Start doing it! You have the power to make yourself better.
A quote to keep in mind this week. “We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret or disappointment.”- Jim Rohn
This brings me to my final point. Use you’re good judgement. There are also “fun” temptations to avoid. You want to be cautious of your decisions. Protect your future. The one person looking out for your best interest is you! The majority of your friends aren’t trying to go to college for a sport- be aware that the decisions you make today have an impact on your future. You don’t want to be suspended your senior year for a drunk day, in the sun, on a spring break that years from now won’t matter. Do yourself a favor and just say no. There is plenty of time for celebrating later… when you’re picture is in the paper for signing day and not that MIP/MIC. Your true friends won’t judge you for making a decision to preserve your future. You’ve been working hard all year for a goal. Don’t let one week ruin it or stand in your way. Don’t let your teammates, parents, or yourself down.
Ok, enough preaching! Have a great spring break and let me know what activities you decided to do to stay fit! @KaylaNatale or @TheMindSide #crosstraining #discipline

Hey Hey,
Well I didn’t have the usual head home, lets take a break, and go to the beach spring break like I usually do but I had a good and one and you can say I had two haha.
During our Spring break we actually had qualifying and a tournament in Gainesville, FL. In the midst of qualifying and before our departure for Gainesville I was able to play some tennis with my boyfriend. It was a lot of fun. While being in Gainesville, I was able to run around a different campus so that was fun too.
At my tournament I had some disappointments with my rounds but it was a learning experience. Although I got frustrated in feeling like I ruined some good rounds, I had to look at the good and realize what I had done and realize it was a little taste of what I really can do. I learned a lot about my thoughts and how they can change. It actually helped in my last tournament. So moving on to that.
Spring Break just the week after haha, we were able to go to Maui, HI. It was great fun as we did some snorkeling. Hey, you take the flippers off and try and get back to the boat. It was a challenge but fun. We also, did some little hikes which is right up in my idea of fun. Body boarding was a workout too as I found the waves in Hawaii are just a little bit more powerful than the ones in the gulf. They will take you out!
While being in Hawaii it was a great time for me to kind of get away from the craziness and think as well. Great quiet and prayer times on the beach. Had a great time playing some golf with my teammates for preparation for the tournament too. Come the tournament time, I felt so relaxed. I had no fear of messing up, I was ready and I was ready to be patient. Can’t fight that riptide haha. I had great tournament and actually had my best college finish ever. I approached the tournament with such patience because I knew that was what is was going to take with the wind out there and playing 36 holes. I had some bogies and even a double but my patience resulted in some great birdies. Most of my pars didn’t come easy either, although some did but it just required me approach each shot as it was.
So I had a good tournament going, going into the final round and I did open up the final round with 3 bogies on my first 4 holes but again I had to go back to patience. So before a round getting away from me very quickly it was actually turned around just as fast. I had 3 birdies on my 5th, 14th, and 17th hole with pars all between. It took some fighting and some determination but it was found. I did end with a bogie but I never gave up. A good break and encouragement. Golf is a long game and I am learning patience is a huge key. You can’t try and finish a 5 hour round and 18 holes or even 36 holes on the front 9, there will always be more.
So after my disappointment in my back 9′s in gainesville it actually allowed me to make goals for this week. I set out no matter what the front 9 score was, that I would finish with a lower back 9. I did each time and it kept me going and fighting. Fun times! More to come! Thank you guys for all your support and encouragement! Win the day
